How many times have you tried to finish that essay and none idea comes to your mind? The good news is you are not alone. In fact, you are not different of hundreds of artists, musicians. filmmakers, graphic designers, in terms of the creativity process.
According to the article “The 4 Steps of The Creative Process”, almost everyone has creative potential, what separates good creatives …is that they’ve learned how to walk through the creative process (2016). Learning how your own creative process works, it would help you to understand in which phase you are and when you need to jump to another.
What we know now about the creative process is that we can break it down into at least four distinct process:
The first phase of the process, the preparation, is what we call “work”. In this moment, we are preparing to make a research, read a book an article, about the topic or even just see around. As July Burstein says “creativity grows out of everyday experiences more often than you might think”. But
on the idea, making new connections, separating out unnecessary ideas, and
it’s during the
Incubation phase that “your conscious and subconscious minds are working
grabbing for other ideas”. Nobody knows when the Illumination phase will
occur, it is indeed one of the most mysterious moments that we call the
“eureka moment”; but after this phase we will be ready for the last part of the
process: the implementation.
Even though the creative process works different in each of us, we can
say that creatives know that not always everything we create is going to be
good, there are at least a few that don’t work out, but “they can’t know ahead
of time what’s going to work out and what won’t. “and that is the difference.
